2020 Year-Long Buddhist Studies

Join us for the second round of Ethan’s Year-Long Buddhist Studies this upcoming January 2020. This 45-Week Program will be broken down into Five 8-Week Courses that can be taken in-person in NYC, online, or audited. Enroll for the entire year or choose to participate course by course. Classes will occur Wednesdays 7-9pm ET at Now Yoga (61 4th Avenue, 3rd Fl, New York, NY). *A note that sadly the in-person class is up two flights of stairs and therefore not a wheelchair accessible space.* This Year-Long program is good for students of all experience levels. Designed to be deeply practical as well as occasionally geeky, to give you a deep overview of a complete Buddhist path, with an emphasis on the psychological, metaphysical, and socially engaged elements.

“I could not speak more highly of this course and Ethan as a teacher! I came in as a complete beginner without a formal practice, so if anybody in the same boat now has doubts, don’t fret!”

“The online course and accessibility to the materials and teachers allow this full time working mom of a two year old have access to the dharma and a sangha that in the past, would have been impossible. When the stars align and I can attend the live class the lectures from Ethan and guests are engaging and interactive. The break out sessions are also insightful. Definitely worth investing the time and money.”

We will focus on three major bodies of teachings from classic and contemporary Buddhism for making this transition. On the practice  level, we focus on the brahmaviharas (the divine immeasurables) and take our understanding and experience of lovingkindness and other related meditations deeper. On the philosophical/psychological level, we dive into the teachings of the Yogacara (Mind-Only) system, which describes how consciousness functions and projects. And on the level of social imagination, we deeply explore the 6 realms of confused existence, which describe how the mind creates realms of experience in relation to other minds.
